🌿 The Journey to Loving Your Neighbor 🌿
Laurel Family Camp August 3-9, 2025
This year at Laurel Family Camp, we invite you to join us on "The Journey to Loving Your Neighbor." Each day, we will explore what it truly means to love others — discovering how love can overcome challenges, transform misunderstandings into harmony, and replace fear with compassion.
But this journey isn’t just about learning; it’s about living it out. On Wednesday, we will come together for two special service projects — one within the scenic beauty of Laurel Hill State Park and another serving our local community. This is your chance to take love from an idea to an action, making a real difference alongside your fellow campers.
As we walk this journey together, you will be invited to reflect on choices we all face — to forgive or to judge, to seek harmony or to fuel division, to embrace freedom or remain trapped, to pursue transformation or settle for complacency. These are more than just ideas; they are part of our everyday lives.
Whether you come for a day or stay all week, every moment will be an opportunity to deepen your understanding of love for the neighbor and to experience the joy of giving and receiving kindness.
🌿 Join us at Laurel Family Camp, where love for the neighbor becomes a lived experience. We can't wait to see you! 🌿
“ You shall love your neighbor as yourself. ”
“Charity (love for the neighbor) is the natural outflow of the divine influx in our soul; it is the love of the neighbor that perfects our reception of God’s love.””
🌿Daily Themes 🌿
The heavenly doctrines show us something beautiful: we often come to understand a quality best when we see it in contrast to its opposite. Just as light becomes more meaningful when set against darkness, and goodness shines more clearly in the presence of struggle, we are better able to recognize spiritual truths when we see both sides.
As it says in Divine Love and Wisdom,
“The perception of any thing comes to us through the knowledge of its opposite.”
With this in mind, each day at camp, we’ll reflect on a pair of contrasting qualities—not to create division, but to deepen our understanding and appreciation of what it truly means to love our neighbor.
